How do I long-term storage my sourdough loaves and soft breads?
Do not place bread in the refrigerator!
Freeze bread for long-term storage:
Your loaf can be frozen whole or sliced completely, and the slices are frozen individually or together, (your preference), in a freezer Ziploc bag. You can keep them for a month or so.
When you want to eat the bread, take it out to defrost in the counter overnight, next day in the morning, you will have your fresh bread ready to enjoy.
How to keep long-term fresh croissants?
- Room Temperature: If you plan to eat the croissants within a day or two, store them in an airtight container or a resealable plastic bag at room temperature. Keep them away from direct sunlight or heat sources to avoid drying out or getting soggy.
- Paper Bag Option: For freshly baked croissants, a paper bag can help maintain their crispness by allowing slight air circulation, but this only works for about a day before they start to stale.
- Cool Completely: Let the croissants cool to room temperature if they’re freshly baked. Warm croissants can create condensation and lead to sogginess when frozen.
- Wrap Individually: Wrap each croissant tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn and retain moisture.
- Airtight Container or Bag: Place the wrapped croissants in a freezer-safe resealable bag or airtight container for extra protection.
- Freeze: Pop them in the freezer.
- Oven (Recommended): Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Unwrap the croissants and place them on a baking sheet. Heat for 5-08 minutes until they’re crispy on the outside and warm inside. No need to thaw first.
- Microwave (Quick Fix): For a softer result, microwave for 20-30 seconds, but this won’t revive the crispness.
